In January 2008, the seminar on the practice of commercial evaluation and examination of investment projects was held for Octyabrskaya Railway - branch of RZD JSC. Seminar was conducted by Olga Senova, a consultant for Alt-Invest.

Russian Railways JSC has entered the stage of reform tasks implementation, and issues related to attracting investment have become more urgent. Offers of external investors, reconstruction, modernization and facilities construction are reviewed from the perspective of attractiveness to RZD.

For high-quality preparation of feasibility studies and defense of RZD investment program projects there is a need for training engineering and economic specialist on estimation and examination of projects.

The seminar helped technicians of the Railroad divisions to understand basic ideas of investment projects evaluation and examination.

As a result, the interaction between technical and economic experts of the Railroad in initial data collection to prove economic efficiency of the projects has become more operational, quality and effective.

An important advantage of the seminar is practice in a computer class. Typical projects of the railway industry were discussed on the basis of Alt-Invest software product, which has been used by the Railroad economists to prepare feasibility studies of projects for much longer than a year.
