In the process of power sector reform in Russia, a competitive environment among the generating companies and transition to a free market is being created. In such circumstances, investment process management, based on the principles of economic efficiency becomes a priority.

Thus, there is a need for a tool to evaluate investment projects economic efficiency. In our company we have chosen Alt-Invest because of its main advantages:

• product’s flexibility, which makes it possible to model various types of projects (building of new generating supplies, technical reequipment and reconstruction of existing ones, economic effects from fuel type change, from costs reduction because of equipment depreciation, etc.);
• product’s openness, enabling control and calculations order change if necessary;
• compliance of embedded calculating algorithms with tax laws, accounting standards, and modern methods of investment projects economic efficiency calculation;
• simple interface that does not require long-term training for users.

As suggestions for improving the product’s features we consider important to separate charges and payments in the ASSETS block (for correct reflection of the VAT repayment) and to add the possibility of modeling project’s financing from its own sources (depreciation and earnings).
